THUNDER BAY – Get ready for a little more snow. In Thunder Bay, two to four centimetres of the white stuff can be expected. However Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Pukaskwa Park. “Local heavy flurries today and snow squalls tonight into Thursday. South to southwest winds ahead of a disturbance will allow snow squalls to develop over Lake Superior, bringing local amounts near 15 cm to regions from Pukaskwa park to Wawa to Montreal River tonight. Some heavy flurries are spreading onshore today, ahead of the more intense squalls expected later. The snow squalls will be accompanied by brisk winds causing reduced visibilities in blowing snow. Motorists are advised to use caution”.
Thunder Bay is going to dip deeper into the cold zone with temperatures near minus 30c forecast by the weekend.
Further north, Fort Severn is still under a warning for severe wind chill. Bitterly cold wind chills of minus 45 to minus 50 overnight into Thursday morning. Bitterly cold Arctic air combined with southwest winds of 15 km/h is expected to give wind chill values of minus 45 to minus 50 again tonight into Thursday morning.
For those looking to escape the weather, the Thunder Bay International Airport advises that there are vacation specials on their website at www.tbairport.on.ca.
With the colder temperatures, be sure to practice “Safe Shoveling“.
