Paul Pepe, the acting Waterfront Manager shares that down at the skating rink the fireplace part is on a plane to Thunder Bay. The new rink offering public skating at the waterfront park is proving to be very popular.

Pepe says that over 5000 people have skated on the rink since it opened. “The rink saw 763 users last Sunday alone.” says Pepe.

The amount of skating traffic on the rink is why there is a need for the Olympia Ice Resurfacer. The use of machines like that on outdoor ice surfaces is very common in Alberta. Many neighbourhoods have skating rinks similar to the skating rink at Marina Park.

It is likely that the fireplace should be back in full operation by the weekend, and skaters will be able to warm up while they enjoy the rink and the outdoor exercise at the same time.
