Only 22 Days Before the First Pitch – IBAF Championships

World Junior Baseball Thunder BayTHUNDER BAY – The excitement will start in only 22 days! The IBAF World Junior Baseball Championship will see the first pitch tossed out in Thunder Bay on July 23rd. The tournament, which will see the best junior baseball players in the world seeking to win the glory and prestige of the World Junior Baseball championship.

The tourney will run from July 23rd to August 1st.

There will be 46 games, featuring 12 teams.

It is affordable too! One of the primary aims of the ticket policy of the IBAF World Junior Baseball Championship is to encourage Thunder Bay families to discover the fun, excitement and drama of world class junior baseball.

Jeff Halvorson, Director of Marketing, hopes that by making the tickets affordable, flexible and accessible, he will accomplish just that. A “Children 13 and under” reduced pricing policy, and free admission for toddlers two and under are aimed at getting families out to the tournament.

Families can go to a ballgame, enjoy wholesome entertainment and watch future major leaguers for less than $2.75 per game. Current Major Leaguers like Russell Martin (Canada) of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Justin Morneau (Canada) and Joe Mauer (USA) of the Minnesota Twins played in this tournament before starting their professional careers.

There are many times when people in Northwestern Ontario wonder why world class entertainment doesn’t come to our region. The reality is that it does, and this event is just another of those events.
