crimebeatTHUNDER BAY – Crimebeat – The Internet scammers are out in full force. During the holiday season, some of those scams are likely to try to find a way to get you to give up your personal information, or to send money to them in order that you can access the massive wealth they promise. The only trouble with these scams are that they have no basis in reality.

This morning the following email snuck through my spam filters, and has apparently been circulating around the Internet since at least 2007.

The reality is that to protect yourself, these kinds of messages have to be disregarded. The scam is always to promise you how to get rich easily. This one, using the Federal Bureau of Investigation as the source of the message rapidly falls apart when you see the person they seek you to respond to is using an address in China.

If you see messages like this one below, keep in mind that they are all frauds.

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
