17 Commercial Vehicles Taken Off the Roads

GREENSTONE – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Commercial Vehicle Inspectors along with Ministry of Transportation (MTO) Enforcement Officers conducted a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) Safety Blitz in the Greenstone and Terrace Bay area this week.

The 36 hour Blitz resulted in 17 CMV’s being taken out of service as a result of numerous safety related defects.

54 charges were issued which included charges for load security, improper braking systems, overweight, trip inspection reports, speeding and dangerous goods violations.

This enforcement blitz is the latest initiative to support the OPP CMV Collision Mitigation Strategy, the goal of which is to reduce the number of CMV-related collisions on OPP-patrolled roads and highways.
