QUEEN’S PARK — Ontario’s third year as a have not province has the Ontario PCs calling for action. Ontario PC Finance Critic Peter Shurman called on Dalton McGuinty on Thursday, to take the necessary action to turn Ontario’s economic problems around. “Today marks the third anniversary of Ontario being a have not province and being on the welfare rolls of Confederation. Dalton McGuinty can’t blame the global recession for the damage he has caused the Ontario economy,” charged Shurman.

If Dalton McGuinty’s past actions are any indication, we will be mourning this anniversary for years to come. McGuinty will try and blame the global recession for Ontario’s woes, but the reality is you reap what you sow. After raising taxes, creating a massive deficit, and not addressing the stifling red tape burden that costs businesses $11 billion annually, Dalton McGuinty must change course”.
“Ontario used to be the leader in Confederation. The Ontario PC Caucus is taking real action to address Dalton McGuinty’s failures and help create good jobs so Ontario can once again be a leader in Canada. If McGuinty won’t, Tim Hudak and the Ontario PC caucus will. McGuinty’s ballooning deficit continues to put Ontario at risk. At $16 billion, this year’s deficit is bigger than last years, and it’s larger than all other provinces combined. We must act to fix these problems and take the necessary steps to get Ontario’s fiscal house back in order and help create new good jobs,” concluded Shurman.
