Marten Falls First Nation – Chief Bruce Achneepineskum has shared an update on the Lockdown in Marten Falls.
Update on Pandemic Measures
Lockdown- Marten Falls is still on lockdown until further notice. We stated January 14th or 15th, but we only will review the status of the situation at that time . With the lockdown all airlines schedules and charters are halted; only with permission given can they come in.
Covid Virus Rapid Test Machines – We are approved for Rapid Test machines that detect and give you a result in minutes; it will give us capability to test in the community.
We should get it in the community soon and with some training with the machine we will have testing ready in the community.
The machines still have limits and will only detect the virus, if you have been infected after a few days. It is not a failsafe device but one of the tools we can use to limit spread.
Moderna Vaccinations – With the brief given by Grand Chief Fiddler from Nishnawbe Aski Nation, it states vaccines are set to be rolled out to remote First Nations at the beginning of February.
Isolation Buildings – MFFN was approved for 2-3 modular units (3 bedroom units) that we hope to transport in on the winter road.
