Two Members of Congress Call for Impeachment of President Trump
WASHINGTON – A violent assault on American democracy today following a speech by President Donald J. Trump in Washington has led to calls for the President to be impeached.
In what many are calling an attack on the “most sacred icon of American democracy”, the peaceful transition of power, House Speaker Nancy Peloski says that the certification of Electoral College ballots will continue tonight as soon as the building is declared secure.
The moves to maintain faith in democracy are going to be vital for the United States moving forward.
Former President, Republican George W. Bush has condemned today’s riot stating, “This is how election results are disputed in a banana republic”.
There are growing numbers of leaders in the United States calling for action against Trump following today’s events.
Former President Obama says, “History will rightly remember today’s violence at the Capitol, incited by a sitting president…as a moment of great dishonor and shame for our nation. But we’d be kidding ourselves if we treated it as a total surprise.”

Calls for President Trump’s impeachment are coming from a wide range of Americans.
Governor of Illinois
I don’t make a statement like this lightly: Two weeks is too long for Donald Trump to remain in office, where he can continue to incite more untold violence.

The fabric of our democracy and the principles of our republic are under attack by the President.
Enough is enough.
President Trump should resign or be removed from office by his Cabinet, or by the Congress. 6/6

Minnesota Congresswoman says, “We can’t allow him to remain in office, it’s a matter of preserving our Republic and we need to fulfill our oath.”
I am drawing up Articles of Impeachment.
Donald J. Trump should be impeached by the House of Representatives & removed from office by the United States Senate.
We can’t allow him to remain in office, it’s a matter of preserving our Republic and we need to fulfill our oath.

Donald J. Trump should immediately be impeached by the House of Representatives & removed from office by the United States Senate as soon as Congress reconvenes.
This is dangerous & unacceptable.

Tonight, I am asking Vice President Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment and begin the process of removing President Trump from office.

In light of the personal responsibility Trump bears for today's events and his flagrant efforts to undermine the election in Georgia, I recommend the House move forward with impeachment proceedings immediately.
I urge my colleagues to do the right thing.

This issue is likely to develop over the coming days.
The President would normally be leaving office on January 21, 2021, as President Elect Joe Biden is sworn in.
During his speech to the “March to Save America”, President Trump lamented that the people at the rally were being held by by law enforcement. That is not to say the President wanted the rally attendees to storm the barricades.
However during his speech, President Trump said he would be joining a walk to the capital.
During today’s riot, a woman was shot and later died.
Even Twitter is turning it’s back on President Donald J. Trump. Twitter reports that three Tweets posted today from President Trump have been removed, and his account “will be locked for 12 hours following the removal of these Tweets. If the Tweets are not removed, the account will remain locked.”
As a result of the unprecedented and ongoing violent situation in Washington, D.C., we have required the removal of three @realDonaldTrump Tweets that were posted earlier today for repeated and severe violations of our Civic Integrity policy. https://t.co/k6OkjNG3bM
