NASHVILLE – The Mayor of Nashville has declared a state of emergency and enacted a curfew in the city following an early morning explosion that injured three people and damaged several buildings.
Mayor Cooper states, “I have signed Executive Order 12 to issue a state of civil emergency proclaimed within the area bounded by James Robertson Parkway, 4th Ave north, Broadway and the Cumberland River. A curfew will start at 4:30pm, Friday Dec 25. and be lifted Sunday, December 27 at 4:30pm.”
As well, the Nashville Airport is under enhanced security measures.
The FBI has also established a digital tip line for anyone with information about the explosion. Those who prefer to call can do so by dialing 1-800-CALL-FBI.
The American Red Cross Nashville Area Chapter has set up a reception center at East Park Community Center, at 700 Woodland Street, Nashville for victims displaced or affected by the explosion. The explosion in the downtown area was in a neighbourhood with a number of apartments, the evacuation has on Christmas Day caused many people to be displaced.
