More than $17 million worth of drugs seized in two investigations, Two men arrested and firearms also recovered

TORONTO – A major drug bust in Toronto has an Edmonton man and a Vaughan man facing charges and over $17 million worth of drugs seized.

The seizure included more than 142 kilograms of crystal meth, cocaine, fentanyl and heroin – with an estimated street value of $17.7 million – has been seized as part of two Drug Squad investigations.

Inspector Tyrone Hilton from the Toronto Police Service’s Drug Squad announced the recovery, which also included two firearms and more than half a million dollars in Canadian currency, at a news conference on Thursday, December 3, 2020.

Inspector Hilton says, “This substantial seizure and the arrests made is testament to the hard work and dedication of all our officers involved in these investigations.

“The Drug Squad actively targets those who who profit while our communities suffer and
we are committed to removing drugs from our streets, disrupting criminal activity, and ultimately making our communities safer for everyone.”

It is the result of two separate investigations which began in the fall of 2020 and targeted illegal drug trafficking in the GTA.

It is alleged the Drug Squad received information regarding a man trafficking drugs in the City of Toronto. An investigation was launched and on Sunday, November 15, 2020, Onyejebechi Ifesimeshone, 23, of Vaughan, was arrested.

Search warrants granted under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act were executed at three properties including an address in Vaughan. Officer seized a large quantity of drugs including:

1. 10.642 kg of cocaine (total from arrest and search warrant)
2. 767 grams of fentanyl
3. 67.8 kg of crystal methamphetamine

Onyejebechi Ifesimeshone, 23, of Vaughan, has been charged with the following:

1. Three counts of Possession Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking

He is scheduled to appear at Old City Hall, on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, via video link.

In a separate investigation, officers from the Drug Squad’s Clandestine Lab Unit launched inquiries into an address in Mississauga. It is alleged the address was being used as a fentanyl cutting lab as well as for the packaging and distribution of various drugs.

On Thursday, November 19, 2020, Bayaan Abdalla Jadid, 26, of Edmonton, was arrested in Mississauga and a search warrant granted under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act was executed resulting in the seizure of:

1. $529,705 in Canadian currency
2. 9 kg of cocaine
3. 33 kg of fentanyl (total from arrest and search warrant)
4. 21 kg of crystal methamphetamine
5. 1 kg of heroin
6. Two firearms – a FMK black hand gun and at Star S.A 9mm
7. Two firearm silencers
8. 51 rounds of ammunition
9. A press, believed to be used for production of fentanyl into brick form
10. Money counter
11. Packaging and mixing equipment

Bayaan Abdalla Jadid, 26, of Edmonton, has been charged with:

1. Three counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance
2. Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5000
3. Two counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
4. Two counts of Careless Storage of a Firearm
5. Careless Storage of Ammo
6. Two counts of Careless Storage of a Prohibited Device
7. Three counts of Possession of a Prohibited Device
8. Two counts of Possession of a Firearm with Ammo Readily Assessable

Bayaan Abdalla Jadid is scheduled to appear at Brampton Court, on Wednesday, December 9, via video link.

None of the charges have been proven in court.
