THUNDER BAY – Police arrested a 58-year-old Thunder Bay woman for Driving While Impaired by Drug on Sunday, July 19, 2020. This was the second impaired driving charge for the same driver in just over two weeks.
Officers were on general patrol in the area of Blucher Avenue and Windsor Street at about 1:40 pm EDT on Sunday, when they observed a vehicle being driven that was registered to a suspended driver.
A traffic stop was conducted on Junot Avenue, at which point officers confirmed the motorist was a suspended driver. The suspension stems from a July 3, 2020 charge of Driving While Impaired by Drugs.
While speaking with the driver officers noticed multiple signs of impairment.
Police conducted a Standardized Field Sobriety Test with the driver, the results of which led police to suspect she was impaired by drugs. Police also located paraphernalia consistent with abusing crack cocaine in the driver’s vehicle.
The motorist was transported to the Thunder Bay Police Service headquarters for further evaluation by a certified Drug Recognition Expert. The results of which confirmed the driver was impaired by drugs.
Debora Jean PYRICK, 58, of Thunder Bay is charged with Driving While Impaired by Drugs.
She appeared in bail court on Monday, July 20, and was released with a future appearance date of Sept. 11, 2020. She is also expected to appear in court on that date for charges of Driving While Impaired by Drugs relating to the July 3 incident.
None of the charges have been proven in court.
