THUNDER BAY – LIVING – The Thunder Bay Public Library has been planning for a phasing in of library service to the community.  We are taking a deliberately slow and safe approach for the health and safety of Library staff and the public.

There are seven phases in the plan – we are currently in phase two and are planning to move to phase three as of July 2, 2020.  In phase three, we will start to accept returns at the Waverley and Mary J.L. Black Libraries only.

Returns will be accepted on weekdays (Monday through Friday). Returns will be accepted for four hours a day, between 10 am-noon and 2 pm – 4 pm.  Detailed return instructions will be posted at each site.

No contact holds pick up at designated locations will come next, in phase four of the plan. This phase will begin once details are fully worked out and safety plans are in place.

We do not have a detailed timeline for when we will move from phase to phase as this will depend on staff safety, building preparation, staff capacity, and public safety.  Local health advice will also be factored into our decision making.

Our staff will continue to offer collections, services, and programs online during all seven phases on our website and social media.

We will update the TBPL website and Facebook page as more information is available.  Find us on social media @TBayPL / website www.tbpl.ca  We will also issue regular updates to the media and the community as we move forward.
