THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Public Library has been planning for a phasing in of library service to the community. We are taking a deliberately slow and safe approach for the health and safety of Library staff and the public.
There are seven phases in the plan – we are currently in phase one and this entails preparing the Waverley Library for a group of staff who have returned to work. Staff orientation and training in new cleaning, safety protocols and new technology use is underway.
The group of staff who are back at work will be assisting management and Librarians to prepare to move from phase one to phase two, which consists of preparing the Mary J.L. Black Library for staff. In phase three, we will start to accept returns at Waverley and Mary J.L. Black Libraries.
No contact holds pick up at designated locations will come next, in phase four of the plan. This phase will begin once details are fully worked out and safety plans are in place.
We do not have a detailed timeline for when we will move from phase to phase as this will depend on staff safety, building preparation, staff capacity and public safety. Local health advice will also be factored into our decision making.
Our staff will continue to offer collections, services and programs online during all seven phases on our website and social media.
