Homicide at the Midtown Inn under Investigation

THUNDER BAY – There has been another homicide in Thunder Bay. This is the sixth homicide of 2020. Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 29-year-old male at the Midtown Inn on North Cumberland Street.

TBPS officers were originally dispatched to reports of a disturbance and a seriously injured male at the Midtown Inn at 61 Cumberland Street North around 10:20 pm on Saturday, May 30.

Police arrived and located the victim. Paramedics with Superior North EMS transported him to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre where he was pronounced deceased.

This is now a major case and is being investigated by members of the TBPS’s Major Crimes Unit. The incident is being treated as a homicide investigation.

A police presence remains in the area of the Midtown Inn where the scene is being held. The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time.

The Midtown Inn has been the scene of numerous incidents, many involving gang members from southern Ontario.
