Gull Bay First Nation – 15-Year-Old Youth Faces Assault Charges

THUNDER BAY – A 15-year-old youth from Gull Bay First Nation faces charges of Assault causing Bodily Harm after an incident that happened on the First Nation.

The incident was recorded on video which was then posted to social media. That video appeared to show the youth attacking another youth and then repeatedly kicking him.

The victim in this attack was unconscious following the attack and was taken to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with what OPP say are non-life threatening injuries.

OPP responded to the incident on May 24, 2020 at 2:25 am as officers of the Armstrong OPP responded to the call on Gull Bay First Nation.

A 15-year-old youth, who cannot be identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), has been arrested and charged with;

  • Assault causing bodily harm s. 267(b) of the Criminal Code.

The youth appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice on the 24th of May 2020 and has been held in custody. None of the charges have been proven in court.
