Stabbing at Rotary Shelter House Injures 34-Year-Old

THUNDER BAY – A 39-year-old Thunder Bay man is in custody following a stabbing at the Rotary Shelter House on George Street last night.

Thunder Bay Police responded to a report of a 34-year-old Thunder Bay man who had been stabbed in the hand.

Staff at the Shelter House were able to provide first-aid to the victim. The man was later transported to the hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening injury.

The police investigation found that the victim and another man had been in an argument and altercation in the vicinity of Donald and Brodie Streets earlier that evening.  The accused was later located in the vicinity and arrested.

39-year-old Julian Jordan MAWAKEESICK of Thunder Bay has been charged with Assault With a Weapon.  He has been held in custody for a future court date.
