THUNDER BAY – The Port of Thunder Bay is a busy place lately. Ships from around the world are arriving in the port, loading up with grain from the Prairie provinces, and taking it downbound on the Great Lakes to feed a hungry world.

Tonight, the FEDERAL BERING  a Bulk Carrier built in 2015  sailing under the flag of Marshall Islands arrived at the Richardson Elevator in Thunder Bay.

The Federal Bering was guided into the Richardson Elevator by two tugs. With a stiff wind from the north, as the Federal Bering came though the breakwall, it was the task of the tugs to keep the ship inline.

The Federal Bering has a carrying capacity is 20789 tonnes,  her current draught is 6.6 meters. The Federal Bering is 199.98 meters long and 23.76 meters wide.
