THUNDER BAY – The Municipal Emergency Control Group (MECG) met today with various community partners as part of its ongoing management of the COVID-19 situation.
“We know this is a challenging time for everyone, so I appreciate the work of this group, as well as our community partners on their collective responses,” said Mayor Bill Mauro. “I want everyone to know that the City of Thunder Bay is taking this very seriously and we’re working in close coordination with Public Health and our community partners. I want to commend the excellent work of this group, who have been laser-focused on keeping services running and keeping people safe. I want to personally thank you for all your hard work to date.”
Those in attendance represented the City of Thunder Bay, Thunder Bay Police Service, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, Superior North EMS, Tbaytel, Thunder Bay Airport, Synergy North, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, Thunder Bay District Health Unit, Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board, Lakehead Public Schools, and the Catholic District School Board.
“While there remain no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Thunder Bay, we are still concerned about the threat and it is very important that the community come together to manage the local situation through tables such as this to efficiently monitor and respond,” said Dr. Janet DeMille, Medical Officer of Health.
The MECG will hold weekly meetings.
