The death toll in China has climbed to 80 reported deaths according to China’s National Health Commission. Authorities in China state that there are currently as of the end of the day on Sunday that there are 2.744 confirmed cases of pneumonia in individuals with the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

461 of those cases are reported as critical. A total of 5,794 suspected cases had also been reported.

In Canada, Minister of Health Patty Hajdu held a press conference to update what Canada is doing to combat the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV). In Ontario, there is one confirmed report.

Ontario has launched a website to educate citizens on the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

Wuhan City – the epicenter for the novel coronavirus (2019-nCOV) is receiving added help with medical supplies and food. The city of 11 million people is in an effective quarantine as the efforts to contain the virus. Shipments of more than 2 million masks and medical supplies and other products will be sent to Wuhan City as logistics and supplies are available. The Ministry of Commerce is managing the production and supply from other local governments.

As well, stockpiles of daily necessities, food, and other needs are reportedly still sufficient in Wuhan City. Food like eggs, fish, beef, and pork are being released into the market via over 300 local Spring Festival supply stations. Supermarkets, pharmacies and gas stations have been asked to stay open. Restaurants are being encouraged to deliver their food supplies to households.

Residents of Wuhan who are traveling abroad have been told that it could be until mid-February before they are going to be allowed to return. That date however is not a certainty.
