KENORA – Tbaytel has officially launched its state-of-the-art fibre service to customers in the community of Kenora. The first 13 of 15 areas of the company’s phased plan for the city launched earlier this month and installations are well underway.

Customers in Kenora can now access the region’s only five-product telecommunications bundle in their homes and businesses – including mobility, landline phone, Internet, TV and security – all from a single provider at competitively priced rates.

“Kenora now has all of the benefits that come with an advanced fibre optic network and Tbaytel is proud to have the city join Fort Frances, Dryden and Thunder Bay as northern Ontario communities that will see tremendous growth and opportunity as a result,” said Tbaytel president and CEO Dan Topatigh. “While having virtually unlimited bandwidth straight to their home or business is an incredible service for our customers, we’re tremendously excited to see what’s possible for communities across our serving territory as Tbaytel continues to expand our fibre footprint across northern Ontario.”

Since project plans for the expansion of Tbaytel’s lineup of wired services to Kenora were announced last year, the company has built a modern fibre optic network and a brand new regional network centre to serve as headquarters for its local technicians and storage for network components. With service now live for customers, Kenora is the third regional community in northwestern Ontario to receive Tbaytel Fibre outside of Thunder Bay along with Fort Frances and Dryden.

“The opportunities for Kenora now that we have a fibre optic network are almost as limitless as the bandwidth it brings. Whether it’s a young entrepreneur looking to bring their ideas to the world, an existing economic driver looking to expand or new families and businesses moving in, we can now fully participate in the digital economy right here in northwestern Ontario,” said Kenora mayor Dan Reynard.

Fibre optic technology services customers with virtually unlimited bandwidth through a direct connection to their home or business. In addition to the benefits that can be felt across multiple sectors ranging from education, health care, social services and information technology, access to fibre technology can also mean an exceptional telecommunications and entertainment experience for customers in their homes. To get ready for Kenora’s fibre installation, Tbaytel local sales partner Donny B completely renovated its convenient downtown location in order to showcase fibre’s limitless capabilities.

“For more than 40 years we’ve been meeting the technological needs of the people of Kenora. This fibre optic network will make sure Donny B is able to continue meeting those needs for years to come, complete with a newly renovated showroom so that our customers can see for themselves the power of fibre,” said Donny Beasant, president of Donny B.

Kenora residents can visit Donny B at 39 Main Street South or call (807) 468-3084.
