Two Units of the Thunder Bay Police Service responded to Victoriaville

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Thunder Bay Police Service have released additional details on an assault that happened on Saturday, December 15, 2019.

Police officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were dispatched to the East side of Victoriaville mall just before 4:30 pm following reports that a male victim had been stabbed.

When officers arrived they located the male victim. The injured person was later transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further treatment of his injuries. Police say that those injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

In a statement to media, Police report that their further investigation revealed the assault had taken place a short distance away, at a residence in the 200 block of May Street.

Officers located and arrested two male suspects within 10 minutes of being dispatched in the area where the original incident took place.

The victim and accused males were known to each other.

This investigation is now being handled by members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit.

Nicholas Richard COUTURE, 24, of Thunder Bay is charged with Assault and Forcible Confinement. Levi Michael Lawson, 19, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Aggravated Assault, Forcible Confinement and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.

Both appeared in bail court Sunday and were remanded into custody with future appearance dates

The investigation is ongoing.

None of the charges have been proven in court.
