FORT FRANCES – Shortly before 9:00 am on November 10, 2019 a member of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a gas station on King’s Highway to fuel his police vehicle. The officer was alerted to a possible impaired driver by the staff at the gas station.
The officer conducted an investigation, assisted by a Drug Recognition Expert.
As a result of this investigation, Leah HUNTER (37) of Rainy River First Nation was charged criminally with:
- One count of impaired operation of a conveyance by drugs or alcohol.
HUNTER will attend Fort Frances Court on December 2, 2020 at 9:30 am to answer to this charge.
HUNTER was also charged with:
- Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.
The vehicle HUNTER was driving was impounded for 45 days.
HUNTER’s Driver’s Licence was suspended for a period of 90 days.
