Celebrating its 20th year, the incredibly popular Intercity 50/50 Cash Draw launched this afternoon at Intercity Shopping Centre. In its 19-year history, this draw has raised $214,377 to support world-class patient and family centred care for the people in our community. Last year’s winner, Cindy Lou Luhtala, won a total of $17,305 just days before Christmas – and she hopes that luck will strike twice by buying the very first ticket of this year’s draw.
This year’s maximum payout is, once again, $25,000! Proceeds from the draw will support the Our Hearts At Home Cardiovascular Campaign to bring a full-service cardiovascular surgery program to Northwestern Ontario. Over 1,000 patients annually will benefit from having these surgical services closer to home.
Bianca Kelos, a member of the NextGen Cabinet for the Campaign said, “Keeping our families and friends at home for cardiac and vascular surgery is incredibly important. As we get closer to the Christmas season, I think all of us turn our thoughts to spending time with our families, and to know that we’ll soon be able to better support our family members here at home when they need this life-saving surgery is quite heartening.”
“We’re delighted to continue the long-standing tradition of this draw,” said Stacey Ball, General Manager, Intercity Shopping Centre. “To know that the funds raised go straight back into essential patient care services at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre makes our support of this draw very easy. It’s important to us that we take care of our community of shoppers and ensure they have the best care possible.”
From October 25 until December 20, 2019 (or until tickets are sold out, whichever comes sooner), tickets will be available at Intercity Shopping Centre and the Donation Centre (next to Robin’s Donuts inside the Health Sciences Centre).  Tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10 and may not be purchased by, or on behalf of persons under the age of 18. Last year tickets sold out so organizers are encouraging people to buy tickets right away.
This year’s Intercity Shopping Centre 50/50 Cash Draw will be held on Friday, December 20, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Intercity Shopping Centre.  Ticket holders do not have to be present to win. Lottery license M835347.
