THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – A beautiful afternoon for baseball awaited players and fans as the Thunder Bay Border Cats took on Duluth Huskies. Coming off an extra-innings win the Cats are looking to finish the homestand off with a win.
In the Cat’s half of the second, Jakob Newton got his 26th steal, taking second base but was left standing. #16 A. Hernandez struck out leaving him on base.
The Cats took the lead in the second and built on the lead in the third.
However, the Huskies came back in the top of the 4th inning to tie the game.
There were no runs scored during the fifth and sixth innings.
However, after shutting down the Huskies in the top of the seventh, the Cat’s bats came alive. #8 JJ. Rollon advanced to 1st base on a single.
Rollon then got to 3rd following an error by the centerfielder. Reed scored on the earned run.
The rally by the Border Cats scoring two runs in the seventh to take a 4-2 lead held giving the Cats a sweep of the two-game series.
