Man in Custody Following Robbery at Dawson Road Safeway

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police have a suspect in custody following a robbery attempt at a Dawson Road Safeway grocery store.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to a reported robbery involving a weapon at a grocery store in the 1000-block of Dawson Road just before 10:30 pm on Monday, July 29, 2019.

Police report that the accused male was leaving the Safeway on Dawson Road with stolen merchandise. An employee confronted the accused in the store’s parking lot, at which point the accused male brandished a weapon that appeared to be a knife.

The employee then called the Thunder Bay Police.

The accused male was located at Red River Road and Clarkson Street and arrested without incident.

A 33-year-old Thunder Bay man is now facing charges of Robbery with a Weapon.

He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
