THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – WATCH ENDED – Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the City of Thunder Bay.

Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:

  • City of Thunder Bay

Environment Canada says that severe thunderstorms are possible this evening.

Thunderstorms have developed over northwestern Ontario and will continue this evening. Some of these thunderstorms may become severe and be capable of producing hail of 2 cm or greater. Strong wind gusts and heavy rain are also possible.

Frequent lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops.

Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
