THUNDER BAY – Fast work by Thunder Bay Police Service officers has led to an arrest of a 56-year-old man.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to 1020 Dawson Road just before 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 6 for reports of a theft and an assault that had just occurred.

Police learned a male had apparently entered the Wal-Mart store just before 7:20 pm and began placing merchandise in a backpack. The male then attempted to exit the store’s front entrance.

Staff approached the accused and requested to see a receipt for the store products he was leaving with. Staff retrieved some of the merchandise, but the accused became combative and assaulted one of the employees in an attempt to leave with the remaining store product.

Police located the accused in the 1000 block of Dawson Road within 10 minutes of being dispatched.

Harry James KEESKITAY, 56, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Robbery and Probation Order: Non-Compliance.

He appeared in court Sunday and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
