Sudden Death Investigation in Nakina Results in Charges

NAKINA – On June 27, 2019, at approximately 11:40 pm officers from the Greenstone Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a sudden death on Cordingley Lake Road at Downey’s Line in Nakina, Ontario.

Subsequent investigation determined that a 24-year-old male identified as Adam WIENS from Atikokan had fallen from a moving vehicle. Greenstone Fire Department and Superior North EMS were on scene when police arrived. EMS pronounced the male dead at the scene.

Three other passengers of the motor vehicle were not injured.

The driver of the vehicle, 36-year-old Erin McPHERSON from Nakina, has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Adult Operation Causing Death contrary to section 320.14(3)
  • Adult Dangerous Operation Causing Death contrary to section 320.13(3), and:
  • Adult Fail to Stop at Accident Resulting in Death contrary to section 320.16(3).

The accused will next appear in Greenstone Criminal Court on August 15, 2019.
