KENORA – Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for regions of Northwestern Ontario.
Heat Warning in effect for:
- Kenora – Grassy Narrows – Whitedog
- Sioux Narrows – Nestor Falls – Morson
- Vermillion Bay
- Dryden
Humidex values reaching 35 are expected for the next 3 days.
A multi-day heat event today and through the long weekend.
Daytime maximum temperatures are forecast to exceed 30 degrees and fall to near 18 degrees overnight, providing little relief from the heat.
Additionally humidex values will likely reach the high thirties, particularly near the Minnesota border.
Slightly lower temperatures are expected to arrive next week.
Extreme heat affects everyone.
Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.
Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
