Good Grief Thunder Bay! Winter Storm is Here with Snow, Blowing Snow and Icy Roads

Thunder Bay – Weather – The winter storm warning is real. Earlier this morning it seemed for a while the meteorologists missed the storm or Lake Superior was sending it around us.

By late this afternoon, snow, blowing snow and icy roads are greeting those willing to head out into the mess.

Highway 17 in both directions west of Nipigon. As well, Highway 17 is closed at Sistonen’s Corner due to a collision.

If you don’t have to go out tonight – don’t.

It isn’t cold out. However the wind is biting.

For tonight, Expect snow at times heavy and local blowing snow. There is a rsk of freezing rain overnight.

Snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm except as much as 30 cm over higher terrain. Winds are from the east off the lake in the city at 40 km/h gusting to 70 becoming northeast 20 gusting to 40 late this evening. Low minus 3. Wind chill near minus 9.
