Thunder Bay Man Arrested on Weapons Charges Following Cumberland Street Incident

THUNDER BAY – LOCAL CRIME NEWS: A 35-year-old Thunder Bay man is facing multiple weapons-related charges after police responded to a weapons call in the city’s north core on Sunday evening.

Thunder Bay Police Service Primary Response officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Cumberland Street North on March 30, following reports of a male individual seen with a possible handgun.

Upon arrival, officers located a suspect matching the description provided by witnesses. A search revealed the male was in possession of an imitation firearm and two concealed knives.

The suspect was arrested at the scene without incident.


Charges Laid

As a result of the investigation, Nelson Richard BROWN, 35, of Thunder Bay, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon

  • Failure to Comply with a Probation Order ×2

Brown appeared in court on Monday, March 31, and has been remanded into custody. A future court date has been scheduled.
