Two Fort Hope Teens Charged in Aggravated Assault Following Violent Home Incident

FORT HOPE FIRST NATION, ON – Two teenage males have been charged with Aggravated Assault following a violent incident that occurred inside a residence in the community of Fort Hope First Nation on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.

Ontario Provincial Police responded to a call in the morning hours after reports of an assault inside a home. According to investigators, a verbal altercation among individuals present escalated into a physical attack, during which the victim was allegedly assaulted by multiple people.

Police believe a blunt weapon was used in the attack. The victim sustained injuries that required medical evacuation to Thunder Bay for further assessment and treatment. While the full extent of injuries is currently unknown, they are not considered life-threatening.

Following an investigation, police identified and arrested two male youth suspects in Fort Hope on Thursday, March 27.

Their identities are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The 16-year-old male faces the following charges:

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

  • Aggravated Assault

  • Failure to Comply with Release Order ×3

The 14-year-old male has been charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault

  • Failure to Comply with Release Order ×2

Both youths appeared in a bail hearing on Friday, March 28, and were remanded into custody.

They are scheduled to appear in court at a later date to face the charges.

NAPS advises that this investigation remains ongoing, and police encourage anyone with information to come forward.
