Initial Report Leads to Multiple Charges

In January 2025, the WPS Domestic Violence Unit received a report from an adult female who alleged that intimate images of her had been distributed without her consent by a former partner. The images were reportedly created and shared by an adult male with whom she had previously been in a relationship.

On January 9, the images were sent to an official within the school division where the complainant was employed. That official then forwarded the content to additional individuals, prompting further investigation.

By January 15, the adult male suspect was arrested and charged with several serious offences, including:

  • Voyeurism
  • Administer Noxious Thing with Intent to Aggrieve or Annoy
  • Assault (2 counts)
  • Unlawfully in Dwelling House
  • Assault by Choking, Suffocating or Strangling
  • Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Distribute Intimate Image Without Consent
  • Disobeying Order of Court

He remains in custody.

School Division Official Also Charged

Following additional forensic analysis and investigation, the school division official who received the content was also arrested on March 20, 2025. That individual now faces a charge of:

  • Distribute Intimate Image Without Consent

The official was released on an Undertaking pending future court proceedings.

A Serious Crime with Serious Consequences

The non-consensual sharing of intimate images is a criminal offence under Canadian law and can carry significant legal consequences. The WPS reminds the public that sharing such content—even if not the original source—can result in criminal charges.
