QUEEN’S PARK – Marit Stiles, Leader of the Official Opposition NDP, addressed her newly elected caucus ahead of the 45th Parliament.

Stiles outlined her team’s priorities and a plan to get moving on tariff-proofing the province’s economy and keep the focus on hiring doctors, fixing homes, and fighting rising costs:

“The people of Ontario have once again placed their trust in the Ontario NDP to serve as their Official Opposition,” said Stiles. “This team represents every region of the province, and we know what matters to our communities, and they sent us here because New Democrats get results.

“This responsibility is not something I take lightly. We’re ready to roll up our sleeves and get to work—because the stakes couldn’t be higher right now.

“The people of Ontario told us they want us to keep fighting for publicly funded, publicly delivered health care, to build more homes, and to ramp up the pressure and fight for the North – and that’s exactly what we’re going to do.

“This is a pivotal moment in our province and our nation’s history. Our sovereignty, the future of our economy, is under threat from our closest ally. We can’t just sit around waiting for the Americans to do the right thing.

“Ontarians expect their leaders to work together. The Premier has been given another shot by the people of this province, and he should use it wisely. This isn’t the time for political games. People are counting on all of us to fight like hell for them, for our province, and for our country.

“So let’s get moving. Let’s get our hands dirty. And let’s make sure Ontario isn’t just bracing for impact—we’re building a tariff-proof economy that works for everyone. Our team is ready to work.”
