Local dairy urges customers to return empty bottles as supply delays threaten production.
Thunder Bay Dairy Seeks Community Support Amid Bottle Shortage
THUNDER BAY – A local dairy producer is facing a significant bottle shortage due to supply chain delays, and they’re asking for the community’s help.
Despite completing most of their bottling for the week and placing an order for new bottles, the Slate River Dairy has been informed that their shipment will take 10 to 12 weeks to arrive—double the usual 5-6 week wait time.
The Canadian supplier they rely on has been overwhelmed by increased demand, creating an unexpected bottleneck.
How You Can Help
To keep up with production, the dairy is urging customers to return empty litre bottles as soon as possible. Bottles can be returned at:
- Thunder Bay Country Market
- The on-farm store
- Fresco Deli
- The Cheese Encounter
- Superior Seasons
- Canyon Country Co-Op in Dorion
If enough litre bottles aren’t returned, the dairy may have to shift more of its milk production into half-gallon bottles instead.
With spring cleaning season in full swing, now is the perfect time to check for any extra bottles at home and return them. Every returned bottle helps keep this local business running smoothly.
“Thank you so much for your support!” the Slate River Dairy shares in their message to customers.
