Driver of Stolen Vehicle Tracked Down After Attempted Getaway

THUNDER BAY – A man who attempted to evade police in a stolen vehicle early Tuesday morning has been arrested and is now facing multiple charges.

At approximately 5 a.m. on March 18, Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) officers spotted a vehicle reported stolen near Vickers Street and Donald Street East. Upon locating the vehicle parked nearby, officers attempted a traffic stop. However, the driver refused to comply and sped off dangerously—driving along sidewalks, across front yards, and then back onto the roadway at high speed.

In the interest of public safety, officers did not pursue the vehicle.

Officers then followed footprints in the area, leading them to a male suspect who was in possession of the vehicle’s keys. He was immediately arrested.
