Driver Charged After Vehicle Lands on Lake Superior Shoreline

THUNDER BAY – A 27-year-old woman has been charged with impaired and dangerous driving after her vehicle veered off the roadway and ended up along the rocky shoreline of Lake Superior.

Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) officers responded to the Mission Island Marsh Conservation Area on Friday, March 14, after reports of a vehicle leaving the roadway. Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle had gone off the parking lot and onto the shoreline.

Police observed signs of impairment and arrested the driver, who was taken into custody for further evaluation. The vehicle was removed from the lake and will be impounded for seven days.

The accused has been released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
