Sioux Lookout: Public Tip Leads to Arrest of Fort Severn Woman for Drug Trafficking

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) – On March 11, 2025, the Sioux Lookout detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a tip that an individual was trafficking drugs at the Jeremiah McKay Kabayshewekamik Hostel, in the Municipality of Sioux Lookout, Ontario.

The investigation has resulted in the arrest of one individual and the seizure of suspected illicit substances including opioids, cocaine and crack cocaine. Canadian currency and items associated with drug trafficking were also seized.

Winona BELMORE, 46-years-old of Fort Severn First Nation, has been charged under the Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs – two counts
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Belmore was held for bail and remanded to the Kenora District Jail. She is scheduled to appear before court on March 17, 2025.
