Saturday, March 15: A Weather Nightmare—Ice, Snow & Blowing Winds

The morning starts at 0°C, but a major temperature crash is on the way. Humidity is at 90%, and barometric pressure is falling at 98.8 kPa, signalling the arrival of a strong cold front.

A wintry mix of ice pellets and freezing rain will transition to heavy snow near noon, with 10 to 15 cm expected by the end of the day. The wind will pick up from the northwest at 30 km/h, gusting to 50 km/h, creating poor visibility and blowing snow.

By the afternoon, temperatures plummet to -8°C, with wind chills making it feel like -15°C. Roads, sidewalks, and parking lots will be extremely icy and hazardous. If you must travel, expect rapidly deteriorating conditions.

Tonight, flurries continue, and blowing snow remains an issue. Winds will stay strong at 30 km/h, gusting to 50 km/h, and temperatures drop to -15°C. With the wind chill, it will feel like a bitter -24°C overnight—a deep freeze after today’s wet and icy start.

The worst of the storm passes, but it stays cold. Expect a mix of sun and cloud, with a high of -5°C. Winds will ease to 15 km/h, but the morning wind chill will be a brutal -23°C, improving slightly to -9°C in the afternoon.

Monday, March 17: A Chilly St. Patrick’s Day with a Chance of Snow

Monday stays cold and cloudy, with a 60% chance of snow. The high will reach -2°C, making for a chilly but manageable day.
