Vacant Home Fire Extinguished Without Injuries

THUNDER BAY, ON – Thunder Bay Fire Rescue swiftly responded to a structural fire on the 200 block of South Franklin Street on the morning of March 11, 2025.

At 9:19 AM, crews arrived on scene to find smoke billowing from a vacant building. Neighbours confirmed the structure was unoccupied, and all utilities had been disconnected.

Firefighters entered the smoke-filled home with a hose line and quickly extinguished a contents fire on the main floor. Additional crews assisted with water supply and conducted a thorough search to confirm no occupants were inside. Ventilation was performed to clear the smoke, and the building has been boarded up for safety.
