Regional Crime Update: Rainy River OPP Stops Border Jumper After Pursuit

Rainy River, ON – The Rainy River Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of a vehicle failing to stop at the Baudette/Rainy River Border Crossing in the early hours of March 9, 2025.

Police quickly located the suspect vehicle on Highway 11 and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. However, the driver failed to comply twice, prompting officers to deploy a spike belt.

The vehicle was safely brought to a stop in Emo Township, where the suspect pulled into a residence.

A 26-year-old male from Badger, Minnesota was arrested at the scene. Police have confirmed that there was no threat to public safety during the incident.

The accused appeared in Fort Frances bail court on March 9.
