Three Arrested Following Guns and Gangs Unit Drug Trafficking Probe
WINNIPEG – A months-long drug trafficking investigation in Winnipeg’s Elmwood neighbourhood has led to the seizure of approximately $179,000 worth of illicit drugs, firearms, and cash. Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the case.
Investigation Overview
The Winnipeg Police Service’s Guns and Gangs Unit launched the investigation in January 2025, leading to multiple arrests and search warrants.
On March 6, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., officers arrested a 38-year-old male during a traffic stop at Watt Street and Chalmers Avenue. He now faces numerous charges, including:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine, Methamphetamine, and other substances)
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5,000
- Firearm and Weapon Offenses, including possession of prohibited and restricted weapons
Search Warrants Lead to Significant Seizures
Following the arrest, police executed search warrants at two residences and a storage locker, uncovering a large quantity of drugs, weapons, and stolen property.
Tweed Avenue Search Warrant
A 40-year-old female was arrested at a home on Tweed Avenue, where police seized:
- 2.8 kg of Methamphetamine (Street Value: $28,000)
- 4.6 kg of Cocaine (Street Value: $138,000)
- 500 Gabapentin pills, Fentanyl, Percocet, Dilaudid, Psilocybin, Tylenol 3
- Sawed-off shotgun, Glock .22 caliber pistol, tasers, brass knuckles, switchblade
- Over $10,000 in cash
- Dealer license plate, stolen property, and drug trafficking equipment
The woman faces similar drug trafficking, weapons, and possession of crime proceeds charges.
Roberta Avenue Search Warrant
A 54-year-old male was arrested at a residence on Roberta Avenue but no further evidence was seized. He faces drug trafficking and unauthorized weapon possession charges.
Gordon Avenue Storage Locker Search
Officers discovered additional firearms, including:
- Kriss Vector .45 calibre semi-automatic rifle with magazines and ammunition
- Gamo Varmint .177 calibre pellet rifle & Legends MP .177 calibre pellet gun
- Large amounts of ammunition
Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Investigation
All three suspects were released on an Undertaking as per the Criminal Code of Canada.
Police continue to investigate the extent of the drug network and the origin of the seized firearms.
