OPP urges caution on snowmobile trails following tragic incident
IGNACE, ON – A snowmobile collision on the OFSC trail in Ignace has resulted in the death of a 25-year-old rider.
At approximately 12:05 a.m. on March 1, 2025, members of the Ignace OPP, Ignace Volunteer Fire Department, Northwest EMS, and the OPP North West Region T.I.M.E. Team (Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement) responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a motorized snow vehicle (MSV). Tragically, the rider was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The OFSC trail was closed for several hours while investigators examined the crash site. The OPP continues to investigate and urges anyone with information to contact them at 1-888-310-1122 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
