Annual Labour & Social Justice Awards Dinner and Awards Ceremony

The Thunder Bay & District Injured Workers Support Group (TBDIWSG) with the support of Thunder Bay District Labour Council (TBDLC) will be hosting the Annual Labour & Social Justice Awards Dinner and Awards Ceremony on Saturday, March 1st  at 6 PM at the Columbus Centre, 301 May St. S, Thunder Bay.

Proceedings will begin at 6 PM and the Awards Ceremony is scheduled to begin at 8:30 PM following dinner and the exciting dessert auction.

This is the 22nd year for these awards.

The 2024 Labour Person of the Year Award goes to Gail Kelly.  She is the past president of OPSEU/SEFPO Local 715 (Thunder Bay Health Science Centre – Hospital Professionals)

Gail has championed the “Pay it Forward Initiative”. This is a campaign that engages locals to give back to communities across the Northwest. They have gone to Nipigon, Red Rock, Terrace Bay, Schrber, Marathon, Manitouwadge, Greenstone, Thunder Bay, Atikokan, Fort Frances, Emo, Kenora, Red Lake, Sioux Lookout, Dryden and Ignace.

Gail is also the OPSEU/SEFPO Provincial Women’s Representative for the NWO Region. In this role she was part of the organizing of the 2024 and prior International Women’s Day events and the December 6th events.

Additional awards will include:

–       Terry Bellavance Award
