Winnipeg Police Arrest Seven in Proactive Operation Targeting Exploitation

Winnipeg Police arrest seven in a counter-exploitation sweep on Human Trafficking Awareness Day, offering support to affected individuals

In recognition of Human Trafficking Awareness Day on February 22, 2025, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Counter Exploitation Unit (CEU) continued its efforts to combat human trafficking and exploitation through outreach and proactive enforcement.

On Saturday, February 22, 2024, responding to multiple community concerns, CEU officers—assisted by Central and East District Community Support Units—conducted an enforcement sweep in Winnipeg’s West End.

Seven Arrested in Targeted Operation

During the operation:

  • Seven men (ages 27 to 50) were arrested for Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration under the Criminal Code of Canada.
  • All individuals were released on Undertakings, as per legal requirements.
  • Several individuals working in the sex trade were offered access to community support services.
