Police Respond to Early Morning Incident; Victim Treated for Injuries

A woman has been arrested after an alleged stabbing in Fort Severn First Nation. Police continue their investigation

FORT SEVERN, ON – A woman has been arrested in connection with an alleged stabbing in Fort Severn First Nation early Friday morning.

Officers from the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) responded to a disturbance at a residence on February 21. Upon arrival, police discovered that a male victim had been injured in an alleged stabbing and was receiving medical care at the community nursing station.

Following an investigation, police identified and arrested a female suspect within an hour of the initial report.

Janelle Tenecia BLUECOAT, 29, of Fort Severn First Nation, faces the following charges:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Failure to Comply with Undertaking (3 counts)

She appeared in court for a bail hearing on February 21 and remains in custody pending a future court date.
