Thunder Bay Police recover stolen vehicle from armed robbery; suspect still at large. Investigation ongoing
THUNDER BAY – CRIME NEWS: The stolen vehicle involved in an armed robbery early Wednesday morning has been recovered, but the investigation remains active.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers were called to the 400 block of Memorial Avenue around 5:45 a.m. on February 19 following reports of a robbery.
A male suspect reportedly approached the occupants of a parked vehicle, displayed what appeared to be a firearm, and stole the vehicle. Responding officers later spotted the stolen vehicle, but the suspect fled at high speed. Due to public safety concerns, police did not pursue. The vehicle was later involved in a collision before fleeing the scene.
BEAR Unit Leading Investigation
The Break, Enter and Robbery (BEAR) Unit is actively investigating the case. While the vehicle has now been recovered, police continue to search for the suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance.
