Police urge public to be vigilant as suspect remains at large

Thunder Bay Police seek a suspect in an armed vehicle theft. Public urged to call 911 if vehicle is seen

THUNDER BAY – CRIME NEWS: Thunder Bay Police Service is investigating an armed vehicle theft that took place early Wednesday morning. Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Memorial Avenue at the Super 8 Motel around 5:45 a.m. on February 19 following reports of a robbery.

According to police, a male suspect approached occupants of a parked vehicle, brandished what appeared to be a firearm, and then stole the vehicle.

Suspect Fled at High Speed, Later Involved in Collision

Responding officers spotted the stolen vehicle, but the suspect fled at a high rate of speed. Due to public safety concerns, police did not pursue. The stolen vehicle was later involved in a collision but continued fleeing the scene.

The vehicle in question is an orange 2023 Dodge Ram 1500 Rebel, which likely has visible damage.

Public Urged to Call 911 If Vehicle is Spotted

Police warn that the suspect may still be armed. If you see the stolen vehicle, do not approach—call 911 immediately.

The Break, Enter and Robbery (BEAR) Unit is leading the ongoing investigation.
