Sioux Lookout OPP arrest a Hudson man after a traffic stop leads to the seizure of a firearm and drugs

Sioux Lookout, ON – A routine traffic stop by the Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has led to the arrest of a Hudson, Ontario, man on multiple firearm and drug-related charges.

Traffic Stop Leads to Major Seizure

On February 6, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Drayton Road. During the stop, police arrested the driver, and a subsequent search uncovered suspected cocaine and crack cocaine. Further investigation led to the discovery of a firearm and ammunition inside the vehicle.

Charges Laid Against 32-Year-Old Suspect

As a result of the investigation, Kyler Ackewance, 32, of Hudson, Ontario, has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada:

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine

Court Appearance Scheduled

The accused has been released on a Form 10 Undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sioux Lookout on March 4, 2025.
