Chilly Mornings, Cloudy Skies & Weekend Snow Ahead

Toronto is waking up to a frosty Friday morning as the city digs out from the recent snowstorm. As of 8:00 AM at Toronto Pearson International Airport, the temperature sits at -8.3°C, with a wind chill making it feel like -17°C.

The skies are mostly cloudy, and a west-southwest wind of 30 km/h is adding a brisk bite to the air. The barometric pressure is at 103.5 kPa and rising, signalling a gradual shift in weather patterns. Humidity is at 71%, so while it’s cold, it’s not overly damp.

Today: Flurries Fizzle Out, But the Cold Lingers

Any lingering flurries will taper off this morning, making way for a mix of sun and cloud throughout the day. The wind will shift to the west at 20 km/h, gusting up to 40 km/h, before calming down in the afternoon.

The high today will reach -4°C, but thanks to the wind chill, expect it to feel like -17°C this morning and -9°C later in the day. If you’re stepping out, bundle up in layers, a warm hat, gloves, and a windproof coat—the kind that makes you feel like a well-wrapped burrito.

Tonight, expect mainly cloudy skies with light winds up to 15 km/h. The temperature will dip to -11°C, with a wind chill near -15°C, making for another cold and crisp evening.

Saturday: Snow Returns Just in Time for the Weekend

If you thought Toronto was getting a break from snow, think again. Saturday will be cloudy, with snow beginning late in the morning, bringing an expected 5 cm of fresh accumulation. The wind will shift to the east at 20 km/h, gusting up to 40 km/h, making it feel as cold as -15°C in the morning and -7°C in the afternoon.

The high will reach -1°C, so at least it won’t be as bitter as today.

Saturday night, the snow continues with periods of snowfall expected and a low of -4°C. It’s looking like a classic February weekend in the city—cozy up with a hot drink, or embrace the snow with some winter activities.

Sunday & Beyond: More Snow, Then a Deep Freeze

Sunday brings yet another round of snow, with a daytime high of -2°C. By nighttime, expect cloudy skies with a 40% chance of flurries and a low of -11°C.

Monday will see a mix of sun and cloud with a 40% chance of flurries and a high of -7°C. As we head into Monday night, the temperature will drop even further to -17°C, with cloudy periods and a 30% chance of flurries.

Historical Weather Trivia: How Cold Can Toronto Get?

On February 14, Toronto’s historical temperature extremes are worth noting. The warmest Valentine’s Day recorded was a balmy 12.9°C in 1954, while the coldest was a bone-chilling -26.1°C in 1914. So, while today’s -8°C might feel harsh, it’s far from record-breaking!

Wardrobe Tip of the Day

If you’re heading out, layer up with thermals, a warm insulated coat, and don’t forget the scarf and gloves. The wind chill this morning is no joke, and with snow returning tomorrow, it’s best to keep those winter boots handy.

Stay warm, Toronto, and enjoy the fresh air—preferably wrapped in a warm parka!
